Responsibilities
- Transport goods using a company truck
- Lead the crew in loading shipment on to and/or off of truck
- May inspect shipment prior to loading for proper packing or wrapping
- Perform accurate inventory of shipment
- Assist as need in loading trucks and/or containers for forward movement via interstate commerce
- Perform pre-trip safety inspections on truck of moving equipment, interior and exterior of truck, straps and tensioners, walk-boards, etc.
- Maintain required documentation and paperwork for shipments, expenses, driver logs, and DOT regulations

Dispatcher
Full Time position in 241 Willard St. Leominster, MA, 01453
Local Dispatcher
Responsibilities
- CORE Responsibilities
- Understands the policies and procedures of the Local Dispatcher job responsibility
- Works with General Manager (GM)
- Ensures smooth functioning of the dispatch function and strives for quality performance with all drivers and crew members including but not limited to:
- Ensure that all Drivers and Crews are advised of their Schedules and related time starts in advance of the next working day.
- Ensure that all Drivers and Crews report to work on time and are in uniform.
- Ensure that all Drivers are performing their PRE-TRIP Truck Checks prior to departing the yard. Any mechanicals need to be documented and reported for repair.
- Ensure that all vehicles are properly placarded, have the proper paperwork including license plate, registration, insurance binder, applicable IFTA and all other pertinent info.
- Ensure each Driver has their driver logs or ELD’s for their truck activity for the day and they are up-to-date, accurate and filed accordingly.
- Ensure that all paperwork is downstairs for the following day before 2:00pm if not sent email to the Customer Service Representatives (CSR)’s for missing paperwork
- All paperwork relative to operations is properly completed and signed before it goes to the CSR’s
- Ensure that all Drivers and Crews clean out their vehicles and cargo boxes and return the keys to the dispatch office.
- Ensure that customers (shippers) are called with Driver and Crew arrival times
- Proactive communication with Sales for when we can accept jobs or adjust timing of jobs due to known and unknown issues. Update Google Calendar as to activity status (i.e., “Shut offs”)
- Prompt response to emails pertaining to operations.
- Daily communications with the long-haul dispatcher.
- Perform accident Investigation for all vehicle incidents.
- Provide accidents reports to Vanliner when needed.
- Weekly Payroll
- Attend all daily, weekly, monthly and/or annual meetings pertinent to the local dispatching job.
- Weekends will be required as applicable
Experience Requirements

- Perform background checks on all new hires (Drivers / Crew / Warehouse)
- Training new hires on packing, loading, labeling and all applicable paperwork before sending the “new” driver out on a job.
- Develop Recruiting and Retention ideas that will help keep our good members with the company long term.
- Ensure cost analysis for all trips are being done for optimal margin performance.
- Perform daily warehouse / facility inspections (inside and outside) with Warehouse Manager (WM).
- Develop “Best Practice” principles and guidelines for the role of a local Dispatcher as applicable
- Works with GM on any research and development (R&D) ideas to better optimize of related job functions to the local dispatch function.
- Applicable knowledge of Allied Van Lines and northAmerican Van Lines rules and regulations
- Applicable knowledge of US DOT regulations
- Perform regular SAFETY meetings with Drivers and Crews pertaining to their job function and for their situational awareness.
